Comparison of the performance of spectacle plates made of cast iron, alloys and ceramics.
At present there are three common materials for spectacle plates, namely high chrome cast iron, cemented carbide and wear resistant ceramics, next we will make a brief analysis and comparison of these three materials.
1. high chromium cast iron: high chromium cast iron average hardness in HRA82 or so, wear resistance is still possible. The advantages are good processing and low production cost, but high chromium cast iron has poor thermal conductivity, poor plasticity and high shrinkage, which makes it easy to crack during the casting process and easy to crack the anti-wear layer during use, which seriously affects the service life of the spectacle plate.
2. carbide: carbide hardness can reach HRA86, strong wear resistance, but poor weldability, processing difficulties, and expensive, which leads to carbide glasses plate in the practical application is very limited.
Comparison of the performance of spectacle plates made of cast iron, alloys and ceramics!
The hardness of wear-resistant ceramics can reach over HRA88, and the hardness of ZTA zirconium-aluminium composite ceramics can reach HRA90. compared to high-chromium cast iron, it is moderately expensive, but the wear resistance is much higher, compared to cemented carbide, it is cheaper and the wear resistance is even better. Moreover, the wear-resistant ceramic has a smooth surface and a self-lubricating component, which further reduces wear. * The disadvantage of poor toughness can also be solved by adding zirconium oxide to the alumina and choosing ZTA ceramics.
In summary, the use of alloy spectacle plates is a proven and affordable anti-wear solution.
